The state government is working with local councils to deliver their Coast Park vision, a 70km shared use path that runs from North Haven to Sellicks Beach. The project provides nodes along the coastline focused on recreation and culture, while protecting the environment and stimulating economic development.
BluBuilt is proud to have played a key role in delivering the project, completing eight projects along the length of the footprint. To date, we have delivered;
- Port Noarlunga Foreshore Access
- Witton Bluff Boardwalk
- Field River
- Hallett Cove Bridges
- Kingston Park
- Minda Dunes
- Henley Beach South
- Grange
- Semaphore.
Our most recently completed project, Witton Bluff Boardwalk, was a design and construct for an elevated shared use pathway/boardwalk around Witton Bluff, between the Christies Beach and Port Noarlunga foreshores. The boardwalk is comprised of fibreglass composite, which frames the limestone shelf while providing structural support for the cliff face.
A complex project delivered in close proximity to the tides, the works provided many challenges. Construction of the footings had to be programmed around the ever-changing tides, and they had to be designed to handle the impact from the crashing waves.
Environmental management was paramount to our success, and a number of environmental controls were implemented to facilitate this, including sediment fences and cut-off drains to divert run off.
As a truly local SA business that is embedded in the communities in which we work, our contribution to the State Government’s coastal park vision has been gratifying, with the infrastructure we’ve built being used by our staff and their families, as part of the local community.
