Project: Sturt River Pedestrian Bridges
Commentary
Design and construction of two new replacement pedestrian bridges spanning the existing Culvert Drain as part of the Sturt River Linear Park Trail. The bridges are located adjacent to Claines Avenue and Hunt Street at Morphetville Park.
Scope
The project scope covered an extensive range of works and finishes, including but not limited to:

- Design and certification of the new bridges
- Site preparation works and demolition of the existing bridge structures
- Fabrication of the two new bridges spanning 19m and 3m wide, comprising structural steelwork girders and bracing, FRP deck and bespoke steel balustrade
- Delivery and installation of the prefabricated bridge structures
- Construction of new piled abutments
- Path tie-in works
Challenges
- The new Claines Avenue bridge was located directly between two overhead HV lines requiring short term SAPN isolations / de-energisation, together with detailed crane lift studies
