We were engaged to construct a new amenity block within the Belair National Park, which included a Changing Places compliant facility, associated linking trails and infrastructure, and earthworks to refurbish
and realign the carpark. The works also included demolition of the existing amenities block.
The scope of works included:
Undertaken within a national park, the project presented a range of environmental challenges and considerations throughout its lifecycle.
Construction was carried out in a high use area of the park, requiring a tightly controlled project footprint to minimise impacts on the park users and DEW maintenance crews. Cultural heritage constraints required careful planning and on site cultural monitors, while excavation works in environmentally sensitive areas were managed to project native flora and fauna.
The project was also subject to strict regulatory requirements relating to noise, waste management and emissions, all of which required ongoing monitoring and compliance. These constraints were further compounded by periods of inclement weather, requiring adaptive planning to maintain environmental protections while achieving project outcomes.
