Mt Barker High School Redevelopment

The Mt Barker High School Redevelopment comprised refurbishment of an existing building and construction of a new performing arts space. The refurbishment works provided five new shared learning areas and nine general learning areas, a versatile performance building with multiple uses, laboratories for the students, and new offices and administration area for the teachers.

The scope of works included:

  • Demolition of internal services and walls in existing building across 1,350m²
  • Bulk earthworks
  • New walls, linings and ceiling
  • Aluminium windows and doors
  • Structural steelwork
  • Blockwork walls
  • Roofing and cladding
  • Plasterboard walls and ceilings
  • New DDA access ramps.

The works were undertaken within an operational school, across a number of areas. This provided additional challenges to maintain the safety of our site team, students and teaching staff. Programming was also critical to leverage school holiday periods for obtrusive and noisier construction activities.
