Myponga UV Building & Civil Works

As part of the government ‘Opening the Reservoirs’ program, the Myponga Water Treatment Plant was upgraded to increase water treatment. BluBuilt was engaged to undertake the detailed civil works relating to the construction of the new chlorine contact tank, caustic and ammonia bund, and peripheral services and pavements.

The works included:

  • Diversion of existing services across the proposed footprint
  • Bulk excavation (>6m deep)
  • Subgrade preparation
  • Structural concrete works for the new contact tank and bund
  • Trenching and backfilling for new inground pipework installed by GO
  • Structural steel wall and roof frames
  • Installation of hardstand pavements, footpaths and access stairs.

During project delivery, there was the potential of program delays due to extreme weather conditions. We were able to adapt to the conditions, and change our planned works to work around the weather events and mitigate the risk of delays. There was also a limited working and access footprint, and we had to extensively stage the works to optimise productivity.
